As workaround, a "plugin" that installs a jre 6 and modifies gvSIG to make use of this jre have been published in the addon repository.
Follow this steps to use it:
- launch gvSIG 1.12
- Go to "Tools" -> "Addons Manager"
- Choose "Install from URL", and press "Next"
- Select "JRE 32 bits for windows" and press "Finish"
- Wait until the download process finishes and restart gvSIG.
